A SUPERB, ENGAGING Thriller
An investigative journalist, inspired by his father’s legacy, delves into a haunting incident from 15 years ago in Mangaluru. The film explores his quest to unravel the mystery and seek justice.
The team was kind enough to send us a link to watch the film. What struck us the most was the film’s narration. What a breath of fresh air this film was. As soon as the film starts, you see the part about the kids. You know you are in for a ride. The first twist within 3 minutes and it has you hooked, and till the end the film does not let you go. That was my experience within the first 3 minutes of watching the film
The concept seemed fresh and the music was very captivating. There was something about the music which worked really well for me but cant put my fingers on it. The songs were splendid and it did give me a break from the relentless twists that kept coming in.
The first half does not let you in on anything and keeps you guessing throughout as to what is happening. That’s the best part about these thrillers right? They always have you hooked. The 2nd half was even better with the main plot kicking in. This got me even more hooked. Everything I had in mind thus far was completely thrown out into the garbage. Now I started watching the film through a different lens. I just wonder what the director imagines to create a storyline like this. He also keeps you super engaged. That’s the magic of this film
Coming to the performances, I loved seeing all the actors in their elements. They complemented each portion of the film with amazing ease. It all felt so damn natural to me. If you ask a filmbuff in me, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the performances. However, if you ask a critic in me, Poornachandra Mysore’s act could have been better. But Aravind Kuplikkar and Sangeetha Rajeev soared in their respective acts. When I found out this was Sangeetha Rajeev’s first film, I was taken aback.
Cinematography – The film looked beautiful throughout. Pulling it off on a small budget was quite the task. Yet, the film’s beauty remained intact. Some of the shots were visually striking with captivating beauty of Mangaluru. I did notice the second fight sequence which had very minimal cuts so that must have been a task. Over all it looks very pleasing and beautiful
Direction – The vision of director Roshan D’Souza in making this film showcases creative brilliance. It epitomizes clever filmmaking. With Brilliant Screenplay, Editing and Sound Design the movie is an example of a quality commercial entertainer. The edit was crisp and sharp. It is commendable for a director to have the conviction to pull off an edit like this.
Verdict – If you’re into offbeat thrillers, “Nimitta Matra” is a must-watch. It is perfect for anyone who enjoys a well-told story. The film offers excellent acting and a thrilling cinematic experience. It’s a film that will stay with you for sometime.
